We join the Klondike Highway and head into Carmacks to refuel. The weather is warm (21°C/70°F) and clear. After refueling, we turn north. I'm planning on stopping early today to inquire in Minto about a boat trip up the Yukon to Fort Selkirk. After setting up camp at the Minto resort, we find out that there will be a trip at 10AM tomorrow.
The Whitehorse - Dawson Road was built in 1902. The new road marked the beginning of the end of sternwheeler travel on the Yukon. The Klondike Highway completed in 1955 parallels portions of the original road which extends on the right side of image.
The long warm evening was filled with bird song. The number of mosquitoes wasn't too high, although they would land on the window screens of the camper, detecting our scent inside.
